That's Entertainment!

I love musicals! Not so much, the Broadway musicals of today, but the movie musicals of yesteryear. You know the ones with the huge dance and song sequence, where everyone is dressed to the nines? Headliners like, Gene Kelly, Ginger Rogers, Judy Garland and Fred Astair?
Growing up mom and dad used to let us watch these all the time, mostly because it was the only thing that they considered appropriate! Naturally so, as they were converts and took everything to the extreme, or so it seemed in my head. I think this is where I first fell in love with dancing and all things musical. I wanted to be the chorus line girls, but more importantly, I wanted to be just like the great Esther Williams! She was beautiful and talented, and boy could she swim!
I am in love with an bi gone-era. It all seemed so glamorous(you can thank the "Dutchess" for helping me remember how to spell that). The clothes the hair,the make-up and the dance routines, so flawless.
You may ask why on earth am I talking about this! Well. just the other day, I had the T.V. all to myself (a rare occurrence in this household), and what was on? That's Entertainment 1 and 2. For those of you who don't know what it is, it is a compilation of songs and dance sequences from all the great musicals! Man, did that take me back! I used to watch it all the time, I had mom and dad record it on VHS, so I could watch it over and over. So....I was watching this show and decided that I was going to dance along...YES...I dance in my house (you know you do too, don't deny it). So here I am dancing along....and in walks my husband and kids, man did I get some weird looks. Now that's entertainment! I offered to let them into my fabulous world of song and dance. They tried to watch it, but the boys gave it 2 thumbs down and agreed with Jason that it was time to change the channel. Boy talk about no culture!

I love musicals!! We need to organized a musical watching club. Ellie and I would be there with our dancing shoes and big Ethel voices. I dare anyone with a pulse to watch "Singing in the Rain" and not have their toes start tapping. {By the way, I found your blog through Amy H's sidebar. Hope you don't mind!}
