SUBURBAN HOUSEWIVES OF THE WORLD, BE WARNED: SEVERE CHASTIZING AHEAD
It's not that I don't like Oprah; I just have a problem with this double standard that I have encountered as of late. Recently Ms. Winfrey had on Jessica Seinfeld to talk about her cook book, "Deceptively Delicious" a cook book about how to sneak veggies and fruits into your childrens everyday meals. As a thank you to Ms. Winfrey for having her on the show, Mrs. Seinfeld bought off/gifted Ms. Winfrey, 21 pairs of designer shoes. And now scandal has erupted in the wake of Mrs. Seinfeld’s new cookbook. She is being sued by Missy Chase Lapine for plagiarism of her recipes in “The Sneaky Chef”, and apparently Missy’s’ book had been out long before Mrs. Seinfeld ever even had the notion. Here is in where my problem lies: Was it not just a few years ago that Oprah ripped a new pair for James Frey and his nonautobiographical book “A Million Little Pieces”. She had him back on to humiliate him and be little him world wide. My opinion: So it was a piece of fiction, she enjoyed it right? It was a good read right or else she would have never would have recomended it, let it go. So then why nothing with this Jessica Seinfeld fiasco? I’ll tell you why, because Jessica is married to an American pop culture icon, and she has $$$$. That’s why. I guarantee that had James Frey been married to some one powerful and famous his little snafu would have been over looked. Maybe Oprah needs to have he flunkies do a little more research on the books that they are going to be advocating. So then the part that really galls me is that fact that Jerry Seinfeld has gone on a smear campaign, touting to all the media outlets that will listen to him, that this lady is a crazy stalker.
I am so tired of Hollywood’s double standard. The get out of jail free cards, that you know if it were you or I, we’d be living the hard knock life up on cell block 3C. This is exactly the reason why I don’t watch E! News or other junk, or even Oprah. I have my own opinion about life, politics and even books that I want to read, thank you very much, and I will not like something just because Oprah says to. I question everything. So I am off to buy the “Sneaky Chef”, I always root for the underdog (well not always, but most of the time). I ask YOU, OPRAH: What are you going to do about this book scandal? In my opinion, you will do absolutely nothing.

I just bought the deceptively delicious book TODAY. I'll take it back. promise.
I read Million Little Pieces too, someone had it and I snagged it. I didn't really like it. But I was really annoyed when O went to town on the poor guy. It was a MEMOIR which means, it's HIS interpretation, nothing more, nothing less.
I don't like O. Haven't since I went to her show 2 years ago.
The end.
I've followed Oprah's Book Club recommendation twice and was disappointed by crap both times. While I agree I have a mind of my own and don't need her to tell me what to read, I don't have a lot of time to search out what's new and good. There needs to be a website with book ratings for LDS Mommies.
