Things I've Learned

Here are just some random things I've learned over this year:
1. People who have more than 1 bumper sticker on their car, and I'm not talkin' school or kids sport stickers, tend to be the s-l-o-w-e-s-t drivers. Not just slow, like a line up down the block-slow, can't get into the other lane slow. I thought this was a coincidence, but it seems to happen to me all the time.
2. The NKOTB's new song summer time, that's heating up the charts, is super creepy. A bunch of old men singing about a a summer hook up? Aren't they a little old for that? and shouldn't they have moved on by now? The ONLY reason I've heard the song, is that they play it on Radio Disney A-L-L the time. It sounds like they are singing about a teen age girl, which makes it even more creepier. Shouldn't a reunion happened, ummm... IDK, like, ages ago, when they could have still been considered somewhat relevent? (apparently it has been pointed out to me, by a weird random person, that I am wrong and she is right...please see comment #2)
3. Fights over movies with your husband are dumb. Put up a small fight, act disappointed, give in and then you can ask for bigger things and have him feel bad, because you didn't get to see the movie you wanted.
4. No matter how you want your hair cut, the hair dresser will ALWAYS go shorter. ALWAYS.
5. Having more than 2 kids is great, until the 2nd child turns almost 6, then all they do is fight.
6. I love Sprouts Farmers Market.
7. Dr. Pepper is my new best friend.
8. If life bites you in the arse, bite it back.
9. If you want romantic time on a vacation, don't get a two bed room.
10. Swearing, naive kids are not funny, no matter how funny Nobody makes it.
11. (this is thanks to a strange NKOTB fan that left a comment, who strangly sounds like a promoter than "just a fan"): weird random people who I don't know writing on my blog, preaching about what music I should listen to and trying to promote something on my blog WITHOUT my permission. I CAN have my own opinion and use your own blog for that stuff! Seriously check out the comment, it makes me laugh.

It's true. Not funny. So why does it still make me laugh? Underneath my scolding, I'm fighting SO HARD to keep from laughing. Friday we were driving around running errands and Avery said "stupid" and I told her pretty, nice girls don't say those kinds of words. I heard Bo mutter to himself, "I'll just say F___ to myself" I seriously about peed my pants. I had to be VERY stern that time.

I love reading "random" things about you. I listened to the NKOTB song. I'm not a fan, but I know some people who are, and I must warn you, them are fightin words you said. :)

Hello, just blog hopping. Actually, Summertime's subtext is that it is a homage to their fans. They are talking about 20 years ago when they and their fans first discovered each other. Hence the shoutout at the beginning, "Jones Beach, 1988!" That was when the roller coaster began. This song is an invitation from NKOTB to their old fans to say "Let's party and have a good time." Nothing wrong with that. Their name is exactly what it is: just a name. Just like Kid Rock is not really a rock. So no, I would say that a reunion happening back them would definitely not make sense because we fans would not have had time to miss them. And no, the song is not creepy because they aren't talking about now, they're reminiscing with us, like a conversation in the song. And no, they are not too old to sing a song about the relationship they have with their fans back in the day.

It doesn't matter what song they sing because there will always be sel-proclaimed, so-called "music experts" who will criticize them for their sound, their looks or their lyrics because they can't listen with an open mind. Their new music is going to rock your socks off. I can't wait to hear it.

If I were you, I would take a second look. NKOTB were a great influence on their fans by getting them to stay away from drugs, to stay in school, and to love themselves. I could only WISH there were bands like them today which kids can look up to this way. I guess Jonas Brothers are the closests ones to date. Us NKOTB fans really lucked out to have been raised by them. Either way, their music is going to rock your socks off. Check out their new single, "Single" on youtube. Get ready... ;)

I think I was a fan when I was 8. Then I was introduced to Ramones, AC/DC, Aerosmith, etc. and I never looked back. You can rant all you want on your page and I am glad they still have fans, but I am entitled to my own opinion, and I'm not a fan. I just kinda thought it was cheesy. More power to you, I just don't need a lecture on why I should like them. I don't write on other peoples walls about why they should like the musci I like.

I clearly am not done with this..... Miss Ava, it's called ettiquette, say it with me. Being the so called-closed mided person that I am, I would never write on another bloggers wall preaching about why they and any other person that reads it, should like something that I like. An open minded person would accept that maybe not everyone likes the things that said person does and accepts that fact without preaching to them about why they should. I;m not trying to pick a fight I just find what you did extreamly rude.

Beckie, you are being short-sighted here. NKOTB are the reason you are clean and sober today. As well as myself. one time I was about to smoke a doobie, when I was 12, and then like, I heard..."baby bye bye bye..." oh wait, wrong boy band, I heard, "The right stuff..." and I, oh wait, that made me WANT to do drugs. Damn, what was the song they sang that changed my life forever. Oh right. I Believe In You. I knew when I heard that song, I could walk away from any roach, any schnopps, any crack pipe.
I love you Donnie.

How dare you have an opinion on your blog.

Relax Beckie, no one is lecturing you here. There's no need to get excited. :) I am completely aware that not everyone will like a specific band. And thank GOD for that! I mean, who wants a society full of conformed human beings, right? Simply put, I never understood why people have to attached age to music. Music is music. I don't feel that what I did was rude. You put a blog out in public, which means people will read it. And rightly so, everyone will have an opinion. Of course I can rant all I want, it's my blog. And of course you can rant all you want, it's your opinion! But to be offended if people actually reply? Don't take it personally. I mean, you are in public here. Anyway, I'm not apologizing for giving my opinion and letting you know what Summertime is all about, just as you do not need to apologize to me for putting down a band I love. We are all different folks! Plus, I LOVE Aerosmith! They ROCK! ;)

Oh I'm not offended that you replied it's in the manner to which you replied. You see there was no need to put what you put on my comments, a simple I like NKOTB would have done, or perhaps a slight bit more. You could have even said that you respectfully disagree. BUT you did not have to go on and on and on about why I need to take a second look and preach and sing their prasies on here. Notice how I did not respond on your blog, R-E-S-P-E-C-T for your opinion.
People are welcome to leave their responses...in fact I got a huge laugh from yours. But when you write on someones blog, try not to call or even put them in the catagory as "closed-minded", even if it's what your thinking. That's all i'm saying.

Ahhhh, I see where the problem lies. Just to clarify, I was not referring to you when I was talking about people not listening with open minds. I have been reading articles regarding this reunion since late January and believe me, the people I am referring to are the irresponsible "journalists" or "critics" so-to-speak. It was not directed towards you personally. I have commented on so many articles, blogs, videos, etc. that I do not always recall what was said. It's usually the "professional" articles that really bug me because they are constantly putting down the fans for simply being fans. For that, I will apologize since you thought I was referring to you alone. If you don't believe me, check my blog entry from 6/7/08.

i think that it is so funny that people who don't even know you are commenting on your blog. and not just once. I completely agree with you about how the NKOTB song it so creepy. They were a flash in the pan, and i don't think that you could really call this a come back. Just a sad attempt to have the life they once knew.Really i sort of feel bad for them. Just a couple of sad old men going through a early mid life-identity crisis. So on behalf of myself and my fellow country man who agree, beckie...WE SALUTE YOU!

Well... since my room was practically wallpapered with NKOTB pics when I was 12 I won't comment. ;)

I actually met Donnie though. That's my claim to fame.
