OK (an addendum to I Did It!)

Since it closed yesterday, I can now let you in on the secret. I applied for the Summer Nurse Externship at......(this is where the cow part comes in) UT Southwestern (Get it, cows? UT Longhorns? Anybody?)Anywho...it's a super competitive summer program, but it allows student nurses that graduate in the winter work under a preceptor and gain hospital experience, and then it gives you the opportunity to be chosen 1st for their nurse internships.I know that there are some amazing students that have applied so I have everything that is humanly possible crossed for this.I researched this in my 1st semester and contacted the recruiter during my 2nd semster. I then contacted one of the Clinical Educators and was allowed to shadow a nurse in the ICU. It was an amazing experience and I was so elated to be there. I know that's the area where I would love to work. I've told no one except for my nurse Murse mentor, and friend Dave, who helped me put together my resume and cover letter and has mentored me since 1st semster. Everyone should have a Dave. (THANKS DAVE!! I owe you Chiptole for sure) and Jason, my darling husband and putter upper of all my crap. I tried to keep it hush hush, because it's so competitive. I love what I do! everyday I'm in the hospital, I love it, and I am thankful and blessed to be a part of people's most intimate moments and to help them through difficult times.I worked my patootey to get here, and I know I'm not done yet...hello Nurse Practitioner? But I know I couldn't have gotten here with out all ya'lls love and support. The phone calls, the picking up kids, the GNOs (those have saved my life more then you will ever know), the words of encouragement! All of it!! So if I get this position I would love for y'all to take pride and satisfaction that you too got this job!
