Lost in Translations

For those of you who have no idea who I am. I am first and foremost a Canadian. We are a very proud people, so no matter where we live...we will always be Canadain. And no matter how long I have lived in the U.S. I have great friends who remind me just how Canadian I am. For instance.....when I say "bag "or "rag".....I always seem to get strange looks. Apperently it ends up sounding like "beg" and "reg". Or I say something that no-one can understand what I am saying. So here is a vocabulary list and phrases for those of you who don't speak Canadian, and can't for the life of you understand what I am saying.
1.Touque: a snow hat
2.Canuck: Canadian
3."Slower than Molassas in January"
4."Keep your stick on the ice" : Stay in the game.
5."Oout and Aboot": out and about
6. Poutine: a most delicious dish of french fries with cheese curds on top and smothered in brown gravy.
7."Eh": can be used as a question, meaning "what?" or "right?" also can be used as an I told you so. Many, many veriations of this word.
8. grade 1: it's just like how you say your grades but we put our grade before the numbers.
9.Pop: it's a carbonated beverage..regular or diet. I usually refuse to say this word...but for translation requirements, this is the only time I will use this word: it's soda. ( blech....now I have to go wash my mouth out with soap)
10.Kinepee: it's a Cree word for "hurry up!"
11.Garborator: garbage disposal
12.Duotang: folder
13.Scribbler: notebook
14.Quanset: domed storage unit for farms
15.Butter tart: small pecan pie, but made with raisins.
16.Ringette: like hockey but played with a hockey stick with no blade
17.Curling: an other ice sport plaed with rocks and brooms.
18.Lacrosse: Canada's national sport
19."Bob's your uncle": there ya go.
20."Storm stayed": snowed in.
30. Slicker: rain coat
31. Galoshes: rain boots
32.Mukluks: hand made beaded leather boots.Can have fur. Made by Native Americans, and some white people, who have lived on reservations, like my Mom.
33.Gauntlet: beaded leather gloves, made by Native Americans and one lucky white lady. Again, my mom.
34.Nanaimo Bars: Yummy dessert bars, named after Nanaimo, B.C.
35.Freezies: ice pops.
36.SnowBobs: slurpees with ice cream in them.
37.Chesterfield: very fancy couch.
38.Supper: dinner.
39.Dinner: lunch.
40."nthen": and then
41."love yas": love you, can be used for one or more people.
42.Porridge: Oatmeal
43.Gripe Water: over the counter medicine, given to colicky babies. Great for gas and upset stomachs. Works wonders.
44.Pablum: baby cereal
45.Soother: here you call it a binky or a pacifier.
Right now my head hurts....so I will think of more later.
