All you can do is Pray and have Faith.

Last night Jason received a phone call from his best friend, from High School. He and Gary along with his wife Shannon, have known each other their whole lives. I'm talking down the street..do everything together best friends. I digress. So Jason gets this phone call last night, and Gary tells him that his wife has been diagnosed with lung cancer. They aren't sure what kind of cancer it is but they are hoping that it is Hodgkin's lymphoma (that's the treatable kind). I guess she was feeling really tired and her chest hurt, so she finally went to the ER and the Dr. told her she had pneumonia and prescribed her some medicine and sent her home, WITHOUT doing an x-ray (that's standard procedure for pneumonia). SO after a month she still wasn't feeling better so she went back to the ER and this time a different Dr. asked her what her x-rays looked like, and she said that she didn't get one last time...well this Dr. decided to do one and that's where they found the tumors. She has started radiation and goes for her first chemo this week.
Jason took it pretty hard, but won't show that it's effecting him. I mean he was just visiting them this October when he was up in Canada and we were making plans to go on a couples vacation together, so I know that it's hit him pretty hard. They have 4 kids and the youngest is 5. We have offered our prayers and let them know that if they need anything..we will be there in a heartbeat. If you are reading this....please keep their family in your prayers.
I think I really take for granted my health. Just to know that someone so healthy who takes care of themselves can get so sick, scares me. I don't know what I would do if anything were to happen to Jason, like this. Cancer is a horrible disease, not only does it effect the person going through it..it effects the people around them as well; family and friends.
Did you know that all of the money provided for cancer research is through charitable donations? I think that there is something wrong with this picture. Why doesn't the government help out? WE can give billions of dollars to Mexico to help fight the war on drug trafficking, but we cant set aside money to fund research grants to help cure a disease?
