Today we headed into adventure! We left this morning and headed to the DART train to spend our day at the Dallas Zoo. First item on our list was to visit the new gorilla habitat. I was pretty excited because we have been to several zoos and I have never seen a gorilla at any of them...can you believe it? So off we headed to the gorilla exhibit, we entered the first observation deck, and there were a few people there but there were 2 gorillas. They were just sitting and laying about minding their own business. It was pretty neat to see them up close and to see how huge and beautiful they are. Truly amazing creatures. The visitors started filing out one by one until we were the only people there. I had Zach and Casey up by the glass to look at them. One gorilla made a slight movement and Casey took off running up the stairs (he's been scared of gorillas, all though I am not quite sure where he got this phobia from) and Zach got bored and went up the stairs to Jason. So I was standing by myself at the glass. Out of nowhere this gorilla comes down it's hill and walks right toward me. I crouched down and put my hand on the glass to look at his amazing animal. The gorilla kept coming closer and closer and closer until it is right in front of me and rests it's forehead on the glass on my forehead. I can't explain the feeling I had when this was happening...it was so surreal. Jason and the boys couldn't believe it either. I think Casey was sure it was coming to try to eat me. We just sat there looking at each other face to face. It had the most beautiful, expressive eyes and seemed so gentle. I really can't explain how I felt! It was amazing and something I will never forget.
