Just Doin' My Part

I'd like to say I love it! I'd like to say I even enjoy it. But the sad truth is that I down right dread it. That is, riding my bike with the boys to and from school everyday. Sure it's good for me, and the environment, and yes I'll even let you think I am being environmentally conscious, what with my awesome new gas guzzler that my hubby just bought me and that it was my brilliant idea to begin with. Nope, I give all the credit to my boys. Casey just got a new bike, because his old one broke and they have been getting super jealous when they see their friends riding their bikes to school. I agreed on 2 conditions, 1, that it gets my kids exercising and 2, it kicks Zach's butt just as much as mine, cause I'm good like that. So on our ride this morning, we were discussing why riding our bikes was good for us. They came up with the usual suspects: exercise, good for you, be healthy, fun; when Casey looks up and declares "And you don't get pulled over!" It only happened once. I was driving the boys to school and traffic was bad, so I took a shortcut through a parking lot. I did get off with a warning, after I declared, "Really, I had no idea that you couldn't do that. I just moved from Canada, and you can do it there." I'm pretty sure you can't but it's just to irresistible to play the foreigner ignorance card.
