11th Hour, 11th Day, 11th Month

Two posts in one day, can you believe it? Yesterday was Remebrence Day, Ventran's day for you Yanks. Off studying and being in class left me few precious minutes to blog. In Canada we wear red velvet poppies to signify the day, and it makes me sad that you can't get them down here. My mother in law usually sends us some, but she was in Utah this month. We always get comments about why we are wearing them and always a thank you from a vetran or two. Here is one of my favorite Rebemberance Day Poems. We had it memorized in elemntary school, but it's been years now and I just remember the first staza, so I had to dig it up.

IN FLANDERS FEILDS

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow.

*Thank you Grandpa Joe, Poppy, Grandpa Walter, Grandpa Ivan, Shaun, Scott and Kyle. Thank you all soldiers for putting your life in harms way to protect mine and my freedom! God Bless!
** Please feel free to leave a 'thank you' to fallen or current serving soldiers, known or unknown, in comments

I miss the poppies. I think they were 10 cents, or maybe 15 when inflation hit hard. And who could forget Flanders Field? It was recited at school (by memory) every year. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
